2013 Show Recap
Over 2,400 individuals attended the York County Economic Alliance International Business and Workforce Expo on May 7 and 8, 2013 at the York Fair / York Expo Center.
The International Business and Workforce Expo brought together the region's vast international business and workforce resources through a partnership with the World Trade Center Harrisburg including the Pennsylvania Office of International Business Development (OIBD), Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) 147, international chambers of commerce, embassies and business councils.
The Expo kicked off with Networking Night @ the Expo on Tuesday, May 7 with Governor Corbett officially opening the Show. During his visit, Governor Corbett reinforced the importance of a trained and educated workforce and job creation, two of the gubernatorial priorities as outlined for 2013.
The International Business and Workforce Expo on Wednesday, May 8, featured a stress management seminar presented by Capital Blue Cross, student career tours and over 120 domestic and international businesses representing numerous industry sectors including manufacturing, healthcare, education and business services.
At the Expo, awards were presented to Expo exhibitors for Peoples’ Choice, Best of Show, Best New Exhibitor, Most Enthusiastic and Best Use of Technology.

In addition, in concurrence with the Expo, World Trade Center Harrisburg held its Annual International Trade Conference, bringing a regional audience to the Expo. The International Trade Conference provided attendees with the opportunity to meet diplomats from foreign embassies, listen to global trade topics presentations and schedule one-on-one appointments with PA’s trade representatives.
The Expo concluded on Wednesday evening with a VIP reception for all international guests, event sponsors, and dignitaries.

The 2014 Expo will feature domestic and international businesses representing numerous industry sectors including manufacturing, healthcare, education and business services. Workforce Development
Activities include opportunities for exhibitors to utilize interns to infuse fresh energy and talent in the booth planning process and to provide help staffing their company booth during the event. Educate the future workforce by providing job profiles of in-demand positions in your company over the next five to 10 years. Connect with teachers and high school students to share work experiences and needed skills.
International Business Promotion
The Alliance will once again partner with the World Trade Center Harrisburg to provide resources for local businesses looking to expand internationally. International business service providers and embassies from around the world will be invited to display.
York County has over 170 foreign owned firms and more than 700 companies active with international trade. The Expo is an opportunity to learn from these companies, promote local success stories, and encourage more businesses to expand their trade activity.
