YorKitchen

YorKitchen

Located in downtown York’s Central Market, YorKitchen provides a unique service to residents of the City of York, the surrounding Central Pennsylvania area and beyond.

YorKitchen is a modern, fully licensed, shared commercial kitchen incubator available for rent by the hour to food producers and for nutrition educational training. YorKitchen sits in the middle of a produce and food hub and houses a wide variety of commercial equipment, work tables and necessities needed to help small businesses succeed and grow.

YorKitchen provides workforce training opportunities and the opportunity for entrepreneurs to establish their own enterprise at low cost.  Lease payments for the Kitchen are based upon actual use of the facility; overhead and equipment costs are a shared cost between its tenants.

YorKitchen also serves as an asset to the local agricultural community. As product diversity contributes considerably to a farmer’s economic performance, YorKitchen provides agricultural producers with the space to create value-added products with their commodities, which will in turn, contribute to helping these farms become more sustainable and successful.

Another component of YorKitchen is The Rojahn Performance Kitchen. Rojahn Custom Cabinetry, located in Dallastown PA, coordinated efforts to produce a show kitchen that serves as a complimentary part of the commercial kitchen.

The Rojahn Performance Kitchen is open to the public during market days and features cooking demonstrations, free sampling and tastings from local restaurants and chefs. Additionally, the kitchen is available to rent in the off hours for private parties, Pampered Chef shows and fun and educational cooking classes.

Rojahn

In addition to farmers and entrepreneurs, over 30 private and civic groups/organizations have utilized YorKitchen since its inception.
